Bounty lands first started being deeded to the Central NY area shortly after the Revolutionary War. At that time, the towns involved were in Onondaga Co. NY; Cortland was not created until 1808. In addition to the 4 military townships, 2 more townships were created - Preble and Truxton - to form the start of the county. Preble lands were originally part of the Tully military township and Truxton had been part of Fabius. Follow this link for a list of Onondaga County bounty land recipients.
